As Telemiracle 40 draws near with the annual event set for March 5 and 6 in Regina, the Humboldt and District Kinettes continue to raise funds.

They provided a unique fundraiser Saturday, according to Susan Dunne with the Kinettes.

"We had the first ever Telemiracle ladder lift. For every hundred dollars we raised, we would go up one step on the ladder."

Dunne was pleased with the reaction to the event and support of the area.

"Within two hours, Humboldt raised $1,500," she noted. "We were only supposed to go up to step 15, but we had a lot of eager beavers on our team. We had eight people climb the ladder and out of the eight, four people went to the top."

The ladder for the lift was provided by the Humboldt Fire Department who were quick to support the fundraiser, says Fire Chief Mike Kwasnica.

"I was intrigued. It was something we have never done before, and I had never heard of, so it was something we wanted to jump on board with."

He added that the ability to help give back to the community and not just be around for tragic measures is always rewarding.

"We like to get out and do these kind of events. To be out in the public for good things, and not always for tragedy. It is good to be out and help out."

Still a few weeks away from taking their funds raised to Telemiracle, Dunne stated that the Kinettes have another fundraiser on the way.

From 9:30am to 12:30pm on Sunday, they are holding a pancake breakfast at St. Augustine Hall.

"We are partnering with the Humboldt Knights of Columbus who are so generous in their time. We are proud to partner with them for the second year in a row."

With a few more dollars added following the lift, the total for the day was $1,710.
