Humboldt and area kids will have a way to have fun while the parents are at work.

Summer Fun Camp returns to the Curling Rink, beginning July 4th.

The 8 week long camp sessions run Monday to Friday from July 4th to August 26th.

Camp Organizer Jeff Burton explains why the camp is important.

"As the need and the use of it grew, they moved it inside to give it a more permanent, stable home, and turned it into the program that it kind of similar to what it is now. I've been with the program, this is my 10th summer there, and it's a lot of fun, there's lot's of exciting stuff, and this is a great place for kids that parents are working, stuff like that. They don't necessarily have something else going on during the week."

Burton describes what all happens at the camp.

"Over the course of eight weeks, we hit 8 different themes. This year we've got a wide variety of again, trying to hit different tastes and stuff. Next week is our first week starting off with Spirit Week. Each day of that week we'll have a different theme, so backwards day, pajama day, things like that just to kind of ease into the routine of everything. Get everybody into it."

Burton talks about what the camp means to him.

"I absolutely love it. I can't imagine summer without it for me. It's just been such a staple part of my summers for so long now. I have some fantastic people that I've worked with over the course of 10 years that have really helped take this and make it into something a little bit bigger, a little bit different."

The camp runs Monday to Friday from 9 to 5.

Registration is available at the Curling rink lobby or by calling 682-2123.
