Elgar Petersen, is a name that goes hand-in-hand with the Broncos. Elgar Petersen a name that will not soon be forgotten who passed away on November  3rd 2018.

Last November he was pleased to see players and coaches from the 2017-2018 season come and visit in Cudworth when they open their rink with a brand new artificial ice surface. Head Coach Darcy Haugan said that it was an important day for the team to take part in.

"I think it's a lesson for all of us in general, we're all kind of guilty of not really taking time for people that mean a lot in our lives. We get caught up with the hecticness of our day-to-day lives and forget about all the relationships and the people we come in contact with and the impact we can have on our community by spending time with friends and family."

"It was something special, for sure," Haugan added.

Petersen, who turned 82 in January 2018, was a member of the inaugural Broncos team in 1970, serving as trainer and equipment manager.

The current arena is named after him and all the work he put in for the team and the community.

He will be a missed presence and member of the Hockey community as well as all of Humboldt.
