Humboldt Uniplex is normally the Home of the Broncos, but this weekend, it is home to some sheep.

The 2016 Grassland's Sheep Exhibition is taking place all weekend long at the Uniplex.

Chris Eddy and Lorrie Reed are both shearing demonstrators at the Exhibition.

Eddy talks about his presentation.

"Paritally it's to show people that shearing is not a bloody-thirsty sport. The Welfare of the sheep in paramount to most shearers that I know. The object is to take the wool off with one piece without inflicting any cuts or knicks on the sheep if possible."

Reed describes what shearing a sheep is like.

"Sheep shearing is just like getting your hair cut. It doesn't hurt, sheep seem to enjoy it, and when they're done they prance away like it's all good."

The exhibition includes numerous displays and showcases, including a stock dog demo as well as shearing demos.

Gord Schroeder, a board member for the Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board, explains what makes this event important.

"It makes it important for us that we can showcase our industry and just let people know what our industry is all about. We've got all aspects of it here, from shearing, to market lambs, to trade displays. So anybody coming down here today can see the whole industry at work."

The show includes several demos, workshops, and wraps up with a sheep sale Sunday afternoon.

Owen Gentes describes what a new farmer interested in breeding sheep might learn at the Exhibition.

"(With) This show, this whole weekend, we try to put a big focus on education. So if you're a new producer or want to get into sheep production, it's a really good learning resource. From the workshops we got, from the trade shows, you get to learn about what's available for equipment and how to use it."

Not just sheep are on display. Animals such as Donkeys, Llamas, and Great Pyrenees puppies are showcased as well at the Exhibition.
