Gas hasn't exactly been everyone's favorite expense, especially here in Saskatchewan.

Well, the provincial average is at 124 cents per litre, while Humboldt's average gas price is at 119.4 cents per litre. Which is almost 5 cents less than the provincial average.

Dan McTeague, a senior petroleum analyst for Gasbuddy.com, is advising anyone who lives in Humboldt or is passing through for the long weekend to fill up as soon as possible. Although McTeague does not believe the low gas prices will last long.

"I could see worst case scenario up to 125 (cents per Litre) but if they don't go up by 5 o'clock, they probably won't go up until the weekend itself, or perhaps just after, but it does mean for those of us on the roads, you know the best place to buy your gas right now is right here in Humboldt," said McTeague.

Gas Stations are purchasing their gasoline at about 115 cents to 116 cents per litre, and when people pay with a credit card the gas station has to honour the credit cards. In reality, the gas stations that are in that 119.4 cent range are almost losing money.

"If I'm a gas station owner in Humboldt I know I'm losing my shirt, so I'm going to have to throw in the towel sooner or later."

Saskatoon's average price is at 123.3 cents per litre, so filling up in Humboldt is not a bad idea.
