A Heritage Saskatchewan representative is going to be back in Humboldt Wednesday hopefully hearing tales of the city's history.

Kristin Catherwood will be on hand at the Humboldt and District Art Gallery at 7 o'clock for the people, places and traditions workshop.

Gallery Supervisor Jean Price explains the purpose of the event.

"It's all about creating sort of a sense of place and community through telling stories. The workshop is going to focus a lot on telling stories that relate to the places in Humboldt."

Price says they are hoping to expand on the history of the city through this initiative.

"We're beginning to look more at the stories of the objects we hold rather than just the objects themselves. A butter churn is a very nice butter churn but if you don't know who's butter churn it was, when they used it, where they used it, then you know it loses a lot of it's value."

You don't have to be long time residents Price stressed, they are simply looking for any stories.

"We're looking for stories that relate to the specific places, you know where you met your husband, where you used to go to school, where the shops used to be. A little things like if had a car accident or something like that, where in Humboldt did that happen, what stories are related to that."

The event is free, they say no pre-registration is required, just bring your stories to the Gallery.
