It's been a busy weekend for the Humboldt Fire Department. The units responded to reports of a fire involving structures at an abandoned farm site approximately one kilometre south of Muenster.

The call came in at approximately 6 am on Sunday, April 14th. Fire Chief Mike Kwasnica reported that there were fresh tire tracks on the scene and that the fire is currently under investigation.

The condition of the roadway into the site did not allow for heavy equipment to enter, so the fire was being contained without the use of heavy tankers or equipment. The buildings in the yard have been long abandoned, so aside from the structural damage, there was no reported additional property damage.

Kwasnica reported that the cause of the grass fire north of Carmel on Saturday, April 13 is also under investigation.
