Shopping local will become a little easier on Saturdays here in Humboldt.

The Humboldt Farmers Markets will be held at the Community Gathering Place every second Saturday until July.

Gathering Place Board Member Adam Duke describes a little more when the Markets will be open.

"They're every other Saturday. And so it's going to switch though in June, from nine until noon, and then starting in July it's every single weekend on Saturday."

The market is open from 10 to 1 this weekend.

Duke talks about what there is to find at the Markets.

"At the farmers market here in town, you'll find home baking, vegetables, preserves, lots of good local stuff (such as) crafts."

Duke explains why the Farmers Markets are so important to the community.

"What they provide is a lot of locally made, locally grown goods. We've seen a real push for buying local, especially what we saw with Alberta Beef recently. Here's a real opportunity for people to support that."

The Market will coincide with the Dapper Cat Trade Show this weekend, also taking place at the Community Gathering Place.
