The staff and volunteers with the Humboldt and District SPCA are going to be out and about this weekend trying to look after three different events while attempting to empty their cat cages.

For starters the local chapter of the SPCA will take part in a province wide adopt-a-thon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The "Empty Our Shelters, One Province, One Goal" initiative is happening all across the province through all SPCA branches. All spayed and neutered cats are $50, kittens are $100 but you are eligible for a $75 refund when you get your new pet fixed.

Right now the shelter has 26 cats up for adoption.

Saturday they will be on hand at Streetfest in Humboldt. They will be located near Jengaz Salon on 9th Street where they will have some face painting for modest donations as well they will have adoptable dogs on hand for people to meet and maybe take home.

They are also preparing for their Dog Day in the Park on Sunday at Water Ridge which begins with registration at 10am. There will be a bar-b-cue at 11:30 plus plenty of prizes for the pooches. They will have awards for most handsome, most beautiful, best trick and more. Vendors will also be on hand for pet lovers.

Their location is open from 1-5pm on Friday and Saturday.
