Monday night at city hall Rob Muench officially became mayor of the City of Humboldt.

He was joined by six councilors including three incumbents, Larry Jorgenson, Sandy Weyland and Roger Nordick. New to the table is Michael Behiel, Owen Hopfner and Lorne Pratchler.'

They did have a quick meeting following the ceremony, not much progressed legislatively as it was more of a run through for the new members.

Muench said it was a good feeling to have the first meeting under his belt.

"We've got a really good group here, with the mix of the incumbents and the new people coming in we're going to have some good ideas. I just can't wait to get going and doing the stuff we need to do.'

Muench pointed out in closing the meeting that they strategically placed an incumbent next to a newcomer so they can be coached along through the agenda.

"We wanted to have a quick meeting with everybody just to kind of show the new people the ropes," Muench explained. "We've explained to them that there's going to be a learning curve for the new people, we're hoping that as we go here everybody will be up to speed pretty quick and we can get things done."

They will begin their regular meeting schedule of every second and fourth Monday of the month on November 14th.

Muench said the budget for 2017 is number one on the to do list, the public is already being asked to be involved.

"We're hoping that the community will get involved and tell us really what their priorities are for the coming year and the next five years really. We're trying to work our budget to five to ten years out just so we kind of have an idea of what's coming down the line."
