Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and Ryan and all of the High School Musical characters came to life at Humboldt Collegiate on the weekend.

The play was put on by the Humboldt Collegiate Drama Club, and ran for 3 public shows as well as one show for the students.

Actress Jalen Smith played the role of Gabriella Montez in the play, and says it was a great experience to play one of her favourite characters.

"I looked up to her when I was watching the movie. I knew every single song, every single line that she did, so to be able to play my childhood idol is amazing."

Smith  had this to say about the last performance.

"It's been awesome, especially tonight. I think tonight we put our full energy into it since it's the last performance. We have so much fun up here and I'm so sad that it's over."

Dawson Kelley, who had the lead male role, talks about finishing a performance as tasking as his.

"There's stress release. There's a lot of stuff building up as you're going through the shows. A lot of emotions that you go through, and you can finally just let it go be happy that it's over."

A total of 9 cast and crew members are graduating this year, including Keller.

Keller talked about nerves among the cast and crew.

"I know a couple people were nervous, but those are the nerves that you get every time you go on stage. For all of us, we knew what we were doing, we had done this before, and we were just really happy to get out there and perform for such an awesome audience."

The original High School Musical turned into a trilogy of movies, with the first one being released in 2006.
