Saturday night in Humboldt the birthday of famed Scottish Poet Robbie Burns will be celebrated.

The second annual Humboldt event will feature Lauchlan Maclean among other dancers and singers with a Scottish background.

Maclean explains more about the entertainment line up that will follow him.

"It's going to be a really good night and everyone is really looking forward to enjoying it. There will lots of other things going on, the Highland Dancers from Quill Lake will be there and there will also be a pair of ladies who will be singing real love songs from Robert Burns."

Supper is also a highlight of the event that starts at 7 o'clock, it will feature roast beef with potatoes and the customary dish of haggis.

Maclean describes parts of their supper tradition that will be on display as well during the event.

"We go through what we call Celtic Grace and then the haggis is 'piped in' and then the 'address' to the haggis is set in motion by the speaker who will open the haggis in different ways as he's telling the address to the haggis."

The doors open at 6 o'clock at the Legion on Main Street. The entertainment begins at 8 o'clock following the supper.
