Some new football helmets and baseball coaching development is how recent donations from Humboldt Boston Pizza are going to be used.

BP's is donating $2,000 each to the HCI Mohawks football team, and Humboldt Minor Baseball.

Principal and Head Football Coach Cory Popoff says that they are blessed continually have outstanding community support.

"I was very surprised when they called to say that Mohawk football was the recipient of some money to help our program."

Popoff says that the timing of the donation couldn't have been better for his team.

"A recent football equipment inspection had us retiring five helmets. At roughly $350 per helmet, it was going to be tough to cover this cost without this money being donated to our program."

Humboldt Minor Baseball President Paul Strueby was on hand to accept his organization's donation from Boston Pizza, saying that the funds will be used to develop coaching.

"Humboldt Minor Baseball believes helping develop coaches will help build a healthier place for young ball players to play."

Coaches will attend the clinic in the spring.

Humboldt Boston Pizza franchisee Evan Nyhus added his thanks to their customers for their continuous support of the BP Foundation, which has reflected back on the community with donations like these.

"We are always excited to give back to Humboldt, and knowing that this will continue to help grow sports in the area is a rewarding feeling."
