The Humboldt community continues to support recreation amid the pandemic.

A fundraiser called "Round Up Your Bill" took place during the back end of summer at the Humboldt Sobey food store to raise money for new facilities needed at the ball diamonds in Centennial Park.

Each purchase at Sobeys was raised to the nearest dollar amount with a few cents raked in through each transaction. In the end, the fundraiser collected over $500, where Humboldt Sobeys topped up the Humboldt Ball Development Board to $1,000. The check was presented earlier this week.

"The facility needs are long overdue at Centennial Park, so all the funds are greatly appreciated so we can get the facility up and the ball going in Humboldt," said Megan Macinnis with the HBDB.

The facility the HBDB is hoping to implement at the park along Highway 5, will feature bathroom stalls, a concession, a seating area, batting cages, and an umpire change room.
