10 year-old Humboldt hockey player Carson Olsen is basking in the glow of recently meeting NHL superstars Sidney Crosby and Nathan McKinnon.

Olsen was one of 160 kids that won a chance to participate in Crosby's hockey school in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

He tells us about the moment the two stars skated onto the ice.

"We were just speechless, we couldn't say anything. Everyone skated over to Sidney Crosby, almost everybody was there so I went over to Nathan MacKinnon and started talking to him. After everyone switched over to Nathan I went to Crosby."

Olsen expands on what the Penquin's superstar passed along to the group.

"He taught us to never give up and start training. if you want to make the National Hockey League you start training really young and build up your difficulty as you get older."

Olsen was one of the few lucky ones, 36,000 applicants entered to be a part of the camp. His uncle was the one that inspired him to apply, as part of that Carson had to write a paragraph outlining why he should be picked and how much he loves the game.

That was evident as he was also awarded the "captain's award" for his group.

"It was pretty awesome," he said of getting the honour. "We all sat down, it was kind of an ending of the week ceremony and they just said, 'the captain's award for group 2 goes to Carson Olsen.'

"I was in shock," he gleamed.

With that memory fresh in his mind, Olsen is now preparing for his second year with the Atom Broncos. He will participate in the Humboldt Broncos hockey school that will begin Monday ahead of the minor hockey season which begins later on in September.
