The Humboldt Art Gallery is going a little out of their realm to celebrate Earth Day.

Even though Earth Day is Friday, the staff at the gallery have an event planned for Thursday evening.

"We will be doing 'Earth Day' meditation or 'Earth' meditation in celebration of 'Earth Day,' Cultural programmer Leah Terry explained Wednesday afternoon.

'We encourage anybody who is interested to come out and celebrate Mother Earth with us," Terry continued.

It begins at 7 o'clock, pre-registration is required, call the Gallery at 682-5226 to sign up.

"It was something that I initiated," Terry mentioned when asked why they were going away from the paint and sketches for a night. "Earth Day is very special to myself and I was speaking with Marie Saretsky and she was excited to do something so we collaborated and decided to do meditation sessions."

Terry says this event will really take a load off your mind as well.

"It's definitely going to be a relaxing session, certainly anybody who is stressed it would be a great way to end the week. Trying something new is always good so don't be shy, come on out."

The cost is $10.

Earth Day was first established in 1970 on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Now over 190 countries participate with various events across the globe.
