A generous donation was made to the Humboldt and District Food Bank during the grand opening of a new local business.

Sobey's Liquor celebrated their grand opening in Humboldt on February 7th where they presented the Humboldt and District Food Bank with a $3000 donation.

"We like to be able to be part of the community and to be able to give back and support. It helps bridge and extends our team over at the grocery store as well. Everybody knows and understands the food bank and the importance of being able to support any type of local charity. We picked the food bank its part of our grocery background as well," said Cori Norman with Sobey's Liquor.

As for the Humboldt Food Bank, generous donations and are greatly appreciated and never taken for granted, as these are what keeps the Food Bank operational.

"First of all, I'd like to thank the Sobey's Liquor store for considering the Humboldt and District Food Back for their donation. If we didn't have the support of the community, businesses, and individuals, the food bank would not be able to survive. The donation of Sobey's gift cards will be used to put food into hampers. Mostly it will go towards our fresh produce like apples, oranges, carrots and celery among other things. We also provide our clients with milk cards that they can redeem at Sobey's, so the money will go towards paying for those as well," said Shirley Reiter with the Humboldt and District Food Bank.

A brand new business in Humboldt, a grand opening, and a grand gesture to go with it.
