Although you may never see a goose on a moose out on the loose, try not to sit on the shelf all winter as the benefits of outdoor activity are second to none.

Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) has put their own Canadian slant on a Christmas tradition, elf on a shelf, that happens in many households, while reminding the public to explore the benefits of outdoor nature activity. The not-for-profit land trust which protects grasslands, forests, wetlands, and coastal areas since 1962, wants to lighten the mood this holiday season.

"73% statistic reveals how important nature is in our lives, to be outdoors for our own mental and physical well-being, and improve our moods," said Andrew Holland, National Media Relations Director with the NCC. " 73% of Canadians said they spent as much or more time outdoors during the past nine months than they had before COVID-19 started."

Humboldt and the surrounding area offer many varieties of outdoor activities that local residents and families can take in throughout the winter season.
