Students from across the Horizon Division recently took part in an E-Journalism course which included covering the 21st National Congress on Rural Education in Canada in Saskatoon.

Beginning with a training session in early March to learn how to conduct interviews and prepping with video cameras and other technology the students then blogged about the three day congress.

Three highly influential people spoke at the event plus over 40 different education presentations focusing on rural learning and teaching occurred.

HCI Student Tyson Greff had very positive feedback.

"It was really cool to see a real world application and work with people you've never met before, to actually build something and watch a website grow over time, it was absolutely amazing."

Levi Thompson, also a student at HCI added his thoughts.

"We really enjoyed listening to the keynotes, as well as filming and editing them together," he said. "It was so great to scrub through and find really nice quotes that we could even find to just inspire everyone taking part in the event as well."

Being able to snap some pictures was one of the highlights for Tyson Simpson.

"For the most part I am quite interested in the industry. I took a lot of photos and I'm quite big into photography, so I really enjoyed that aspect of the event."

Three Lakes School Principal Clayton Parobec was one of the presenters at the event which took place from March 20th to 22nd.

The entire body of work done by the e-journalism team can be found through their website.
