The Horizon School Division has seen three incidents of strangers approaching students in the past two weeks, and director of education Kevin Garinger says he's never seen anything like it.

"And in each situation, our young people have made very, very good choices. I'm certainly concerned about the number of incidents of this type of behaviour, but at the same time I'm also extremely grateful that our parents do such a wonderful job, and so does our staff, in terms of ensuring the safety of our students through this focus on stranger danger or whatever you want to call it."

Two men approached a 10-year-old boy in Rose Valley on 1st Avenue near the Community Hall around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, RCMP say. One man was described as Caucasian and short, wearing glasses and a hooded sweatshirt and having an accent. The second man was described as Caucasian, tall and wearing a black toque.

A suspicious man approached a student at Nokomis School and asked if he wanted a ride on November 14 and a similar incident is reported to have happened November 9 at Punnichy Elementary Community School.
