Owen Hopfner has proceeded with a run at city council in Humboldt.

Hopfner, who has called Humboldt home with his wife Aubrey since 2008, feels his roles with various boards and organizations make him a strong candidate.

While farming in the Lake Lenore area he assisted in organizing and building community projects.

He was involved with policies, member services and other titles with the Sask Wheat Pool. He was also a regional mamanger with Saskatchewan Crop Insurance.

Despite owning a local landscaping business Hopfner considers himself "semi-retired" which he adds allows his time to serve the City of Humboldt.

The election will be held October 26th, Wednesday at 4 o'clock is the nomination deadline.

On Thursday a full list of the candidates will be released.
