Police in Saskatchewan are reporting lower holiday impaired driving numbers from the previous year.

From December 24 to January 1, RCMP heavily targeted impaired drivers throughout the province, with the final stats showing that 21 people were charged with impaired driving over 80mg.

Eight others received an alcohol-related roadside suspension, while police say that this year, no one refused a breath sample, which is considered to be the same as blowing over 80mg.

Comparatively, there were 29 charged with impaired driving one year ago, while three refused samples, and 14 had roadside suspensions.

Police acknowledge the lower numbers but added that even one impaired driver is too many.
