There is plenty of rich history on Don Williams' farm near Lanigan.

Family roots began in Ontario, but have been in Saskatchewan since provincial declaration.

"Grandpa Williams homesteaded here in 1905, so the farm has been around for 111 years here. Prior to that they were in Ontario," he explained. "Dad farmed until 1988 or 1989 and then I took over at that time."

The 2016 crop has thus far treated Williams and his family well, with progress moving steadily.

"We're about halfway done harvest. Mainly have canola off, a little bit of wheat and hopefully about another week's worth of wheat and then back on to canola."

"We have peas in, a whole bunch of utility wheat, regular hard red wheat and canola."

He added that if weather remains ideal, harvest on the Williams farm will be complete close to September's end.
