With more vehicles on the road throughout the long weekend, the Government of Saskatchewan is reminding motorists to be cautious while traveling.

"Drivers are reminded to plan ahead, check the highway hotline, and drive 60 in workzones," said Sonja Orban with Highways and Infrastructure.

Work is beginning on Highway 5, 6.5 kilometres east of the Highway 41 junction just outside of Saskatoon. There, two acceleration lanes, as well as an on-ramp are in construction.

The project estimated at over $500,000 is expected to be completed in mid-October.

A year long project continues on Highway 15 east of Kenaston, with 14.5 km of grading on Highway 15, five kilometres west to 19.5 km west of the Highway 2 junction.

Nearly $6 million will be spent on fixing that area, which is due for completion next summer.

Construction is in it's final stages near Clavet, where a $28.7 million project has seen 19 km of grading work for the newly twinned highway lanes one kilometre west of the Bradwell intersection to nine kilometres east of the Highway 11 junction.

Since 2008, the province has spent a record $5.2 billion in transportation infrastructure.
