A section of Highway 6 north of Regina is now open following an accident Thursday afternoon.

Just before 1pm, a southbound pick-up and northbound semi collided. A 35 year-old Regina man was transported to hospital via STARS air ambulance with serious injuries. The driver of the semi unit was not hurt.

As a result of the collision diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid spilled onto the highway and into the ditch.

A section of the highway remained closed and traffic was rerouted until after one o'clock in the morning.

Motorists are still recommended to reduce their speed through the area Friday as sand has been spread on the highway.
