A high-speed chase took place near the community of Lanigan on Wednesday.

Stop checks were underway on the morning of September 26th on Highway 16.

At 9:30 AM a van traveling eat was waved to be checked by police, but instead of stopping, the driver accelerated through the stop check nearly striking an officer. Police officers initiated a pursuit, but the pursuit was terminated for public safety reasons.

The van was stolen in Lloydminster Alberta by Kyle Lang of Nova Scotia who was later found stuck in a field by police. Lang has been remanded in custody until October 10th where he will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court as he faces these charges:

Assault Peace Officer, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Evade Police, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, Fail to Comply with an undertaking, Theft of Motor Vehicle, and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
