A moderate health risk is out for the area, as heavier smoke settles in from northern wildfires.

With little to no wind throughout the day, haze is sitting over the region, making for reduced visibility on highways.

An air quality advisory was issued by Environment Canada at 2:17pm, but the smoke has been having its impact on some throughout the day.

"You can just smell it, it is stronger than it has been," noted one Humboldt resident. "It is giving me a headache and sore throat."

Environment Canada says elevated pollution levels are occurring or rising.

Given the wildfires in northern Saskatchewan and a lack of rain leading to dry conditions, several municipalities are putting fire bans into effect to ensure that no more damage occurs.
