BHP Billiton is continuing to support the community and the Humboldt and District Hospital Foundation.

The HDHF was presented with a cheque of $23,750.00 dollars for the purchase of a vital signs monitor and specialty bed mattresses.

Executive Director for the HDHF, Lorrie Bunko said BHP has made donations in the past.

"We really appreciate and we were actually really surprised with the donation because of their generosity in 2014, they donated $88,000 to us so we could purchase a new portable x-ray which has been a god send around here, they use that piece of equipment quite a bit."

Bunko explained the importance of the new equipment they are planning to purchase immediately, "they provide blood pressure reading, SPO2, and pulse readings so in emergency situations, nurses and doctors depend on these stats and they actually have a built in printer and they can set the timing on it too."

The specialty bed mattresses will be available for patients who have limited mobility, or are in palliative care.

The HDHF has their Christmas Angel Appeals out right now to raise funds.

The board will meet before the end of the year to make plans for 2016.
