The Humboldt District Hospital Foundation unveiled a plaque to honor a large donation made by Mary Berlinic. The donation was made on behalf of Mary and her late husband, William.

The donation was for the amount of $100,000, Aaron Behiel the HDHF Board Chair explained what this donation means for the hospital and for the communities in the area.

"It means that we can always know that service will always be available. That machine gets used about ten times a day just for ultrasounds. So this way we know as soon as it starts breaking down we can order a replacement so there is no interruption of service."

The equipment was crucial not only William Berlinic, but to many others in the area. The ultrasound at the Humboldt District Hospital serves as a dual-purpose machine, it has the abilities to be used for echo-cardiograms.

Behiel talks about how many people utilize Humboldt's hospital and equipment.

"It's critical, one based on the usage, and two to keep people from traveling long distance to access those services. They can offer treatment and options much quicker than having to send someone to Saskatoon for the same scans."

The plaque is now up on the wall and the ultrasound room will now be named the "William & Mary Berlinic Ultrasound Suite."
