Humboldt Golf Course has held it's fair share of events, in its history, but never before has it held a HDHF have a heart run.

That changed on Sunday, with participants choosing to walk or run 9 or 18 holes.

One of those participants was Susan Dunne, who is part of the Miles in Memory of Marina team.

She talks about the meaning behind her team.

"The last 4 years have been dedicated to my Aunt, who was a retired nurse from the Hospital. We just felt that as a family that we would like to participate and leave a legacy for her. Our commitment is to do the walk in her honour for 5 years, so next year will be our big year. We have a goal in mind, but it's not always about the money it's just getting together as a family and participating."

Dunne says her participation in the run expands passed the last 4 years.

"I've actually been doing it since they started it, and that's 6 years, but this is our 4th year as team 'Miles in Memory of Marina,' so we're really excited to participate in the walk."

Dunne describes what it means for her to participate in the run.

"It's about being out there, and being physical. I think it doesn't matter if you walk 2 kilometers (or) 5 kilometers, every kilometer makes a difference. Walking for the hospital and raising the money that is needed. Health care changes so quickly, and every little penny helps."

Dunne says her team plans for a big 5th year together next year, named after Marina Stroeder, a retired nurse that worked for St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Humboldt before her tragic death in 2013.

This was the 6th year the run has taken place, but first time that it was held at the Humboldt Golf Course.
