The Humboldt & District Hospital Foundation had the Humboldt Emergency Relief Organization (H.E.R.O) come to the rescue on Friday.

H.E.R.O donated $5,938 to go towards support for mental health and addictions. The Humboldt & District Health Complex is looking to renovate four patient rooms. The hope is to make all four rooms safer for mental health and addictions patience.

"We have been seeing a steady increase in patients and it's important to have a room that is safe for the patients by taking away any risks of self-harm while keeping it comfortable for family and friends," said Lorrie Bunko, executive director of the HDHF.

The rooms will see plumbing, window, door, and bed upgrades which are an estimated $6,000 per room. In total, all four rooms will cost the HDHF $24,000.
