The HCI Mohawks put on their chili dog sale Thursday where they sold chili dogs, chips, and a drink, as a fundraiser for the team.

The money raised will help the team out with equipment and transportation costs.

Tom Schwinghamer the assistant coach gives us the details on what the money will help with.

"We need funding for things like equipment, there's always a lot of equipment that needs to be replaced over the years, helmets shoulder pads those types of things get very expensive. Our travel costs, we have some major trips, Nipawin, LaRonge, and things like that. So our travel gets expensive as well. so we need to cover those types of things. "

The event will also help with the new tower that is built at Glenn Hall Park. Schwinghamer tells us more about the tower.

"So we just completed our new football tower out at Glenn Hall park which we are also outfitting so we had to put some proceeds towards that."

The team is a fairly young team this year but Schwinghamer has high hopes.

"We're young but we very eager and I think the future looks very bright for us."

The home opening game is this Friday at 4:00 pm against Melfort.
