Harvest is just about to get underway for Dan Schwartz and his operation.

Schwartz farms at Englefeld and has been in the industry for 50 years.

"My dad started in 1945 here. I started when I was about 16-years-old," said Schwartz.

He noted that they anticipate starting harvest in the coming days and that despite some areas seeing either too much moisture, or not enough, things are looking good for them.

"The crop looks pretty good this year, we don't have any problems with it," he said.

In the meantime, while they wait to take the crop off, Schwartz says that there is still plenty to do.

"Lots of rebuilding equipment. We have a lot of work to do on swathers, and two combines."

Schwartz was the first winner of Meal in the Field for the harvest season. If you want to have the opportunity to win a free meal, enter here.
