A court sentencing was held at the Humboldt provincial court on Monday, October 15th. 

33-year-old Aaron William Rider of Guernsey was found guilty of multiple charges and was sentenced to 14 months custody from crimes he committed between August 2017 and September 2018.

In August 2017 at a traffic stop in Humboldt, Rider was found to be in possession of a firearm however he was prohibited from possessing a firearm from a previous conviction. Then in September 2018, Rider was again stopped in Humboldt and this time was in possession of cocaine and marijuana.

In court on Monday, Rider was found guilty and convicted of multiple charges stemming from the incidents. Those crimes include possession charges of Firearms, Stolen Property over $5000, counterfeit money and controlled substances. Along with a failure to appear, a breach of recognizance charge, and several traffic safety act infractions.

Rider was credited with 45 days pre-conviction remand time, and will now serve the remaining 12 months, 15 days at a Provincial Correctional Centre. Rider will also be subject to a court-ordered firearm prohibition for the next 10 years as a part of his sentence.
