A group devoted to getting more people to shop locally is introducing a new campaign.

Shop Humboldt First launched a Facebook page in April to get awareness out.

Olivia Coffyne, owner of Diamonds of Detroit, is one of the members of the group and explained why they wanted to start the motion.

"It was initiated by our local woman entrepreneur group. We felt it was an opportunity to work together and promote each other's businesses in Humboldt on one platform, and it has now grown into a city-wide campaign."

Coffyne says that rather than having potential customers go through multiple pages or other avenues to find out the best deals in Humboldt, it was a chance to combine it all in one spot.

"The idea was to have a place where businesses could advertise their specials and what they offer and make it easy for customers to find them," she noted. "For example, during the Summer Sizzler, it was a place for various businesses to showcase their specials or deals for that weekend."

Those interested in joining the campaign can apply through shophumboldtfirst@gmail.com. Upon completing an application, they receive a window sticker to display on their company vehicle or store front.

"We hope this campaign achieves getting people shopping in and around Humboldt. We have so much to offer here and truly a unique shopping experience for a city of our size," says Coffyne.

Since initially launching, the group has added a new logo, which was made by Graphic Ad in Humboldt.

Coffyne notes that the campaign is only open to commercial businesses in Humboldt. In the future, there may be an opportunity for home-based and out of town businesses to join.
