Due to COVID-19, residents may be storing an unprecedented amount of recycling.

The First Westminster Scout Group is offering its help by conducting a bottle drive. The initial fundraiser was postponed on April 4, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"All the money goes towards the kids' activities or camping and some will go to members traveling to jamborees in and outside of Canada," said Lorna Strome, with First Westminster Scout Group.

Being in the current situation of a pandemic, the group will no longer be going door to door. It will be up to the public to reach out to the group on Facebook or over the phone.

From there they will organize a time for people to drop off their recycling or to have it picked up. All the cans and bottles will be stored until SARCAN opens in phase three of the Reopen Saskatchewan Plan.

"Even though our program is currently suspended we are still working towards various goals," stated Strome.

SARCAN is set to reopen June 15 as you can set up a pickup or drop off with Lorna Strome at 306-231-6286.
