Although the sunshine will be dancing on Friday, the temperature won't reflect that in the area.

Humboldt and east-central Saskatchewan is under an extreme cold warning from Environment Canada.

"A very cold arctic ridge of high pressure will build in from the Yukon tonight," the weather forecaster says in a statement.

"Temperatures will plunge to the minus thirty neighborhood tonight. Even with light winds, extreme wind chills of minus forty or colder will develop tonight and persist Friday morning."

It is added that risks are most prominent for young children, older adults, people with chronic illness, people working or exercising outside and those without proper shelter.

Wind chill values will warm up to around minus thirty for Friday afternoon and stay in the high twenty mark throughout most of the weekend.

A return to seasonal conditions is expected for Tuesday.
