The City of Humboldt will be rolling out their new Garbage and Recycling program in the next few weeks.

REACT will begin delivering garbage and recycling carts on May 15th with all of the carts being delivered by May 31st.

City Manager Roy Hardy says residents won't start utilizing their carts quite yet, "for garbage the collection actually begins on June 8th and 9th and for recycling, the week after of June 15th and 16th."

Cart Deliveries will be made at the end of driveways throughout the city starting on the south side.

There are still some different feelings when it comes to the implementation of the new program explained Hardy.

"I think there is still mixed information out there and we are trying very hard to get information to people, particularly in the multi-residential area and there's letters going out to them this week so that we can make our arrangements so that they can be part of the solution."

REACT yellow tags will still be used up until June 1st and when taking garbage to the landfill south of the city.

Households will each receive one garbage cart and one recycling cart which will come with a $15 monthly charge.

The hope is that "Humboldt will become greener and a more effective recycler here in Saskatchewan."

All garbage and recycling information can be found here.
