A new community daycare in Watrous continues to become closer to reality.

After an initial fundraising campaign allowed them to purchase a building, new efforts are now being made to raise funds to help renovate and furnish the facility.

Community Development Officer Brendan Manz says that the building is in a good location.

"We recently purchased the Pentecostal Church in Watrous, which is right on Main Street and right across from the school as well."

The latest money to come in for the daycare is from Success RV, who hosted an open house and barbecue on Saturday, June 10.

"They gave us $1,000 for helping them out and there was also a silver collection, which raised another $1,125, so we now have another $2,100 that we can put towards the new daycare facility."

Manz says that the sooner they are able to generate funds, the quicker they can open the centre.

"The facility itself, to make it into a licensed daycare facility, needs about $100,000 in renovations," he noted. "Our goal is to raise between $100,000 and $200,000, so we will be starting different campaigns in the summer and into the fall."
