When the Humboldt SPCA was planning a fundraiser, they figured a good burger was something people wouldn’t pass up.

“It’s something that you have a lot of people always show up for, it’s a way to get out there and meet people, and let them know where we are, who we are, and what we’re about,” said Angie Larochelle, who was handing out treats.

The Humboldt SPCA Barbeque took place on Friday and many people showed up for some delicious burgers and treats in front of the Humboldt and District Museum.

The barbeque proceeds will be going to the building fund and medical bills for the sheltered animals, Larochelle said

“Well, we always have in mind the building fund but we have day to day costs, we never know what happens with an animal. If they’re sick, if we need it, we’ll use it right away for an animal or for whatever and if not it will go into the fund.” When asked if any of the proceeds will be going towards animal food she said, “More so vet care. Neuters, spays, things like that.”

When asked about a goal amount of money, Larochelle replied “We’re always happy with everything that we can make, we’re always grateful for every dime.”

The SPCA is always looking for volunteers to help out with their “amazing” animals, she said.

She also reminds people: don’t shop, adopt.
