The final annual report from the Saskatchewan Transportation Company shows the math in why the province chose to discontinue the service.

During the 2016-2017 fiscal year, STC reported a deficit of $34-million. The bus company had $15-million in revenue while operating expenses exceeded $49-million.

There was also a hit in passenger use, which dropped 2.4%.

Parcel and passenger service for the bus company wrapped up in May.

Tiger Courier has taken over many of the province's shipping needs, including in Humboldt, where parcels can still be sent and received through Kemway Lanes.
