Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan will soon be no more.

Final regulatory permission has been received for PCS and Agrium to join forces.

Nutrien will be the new name of the merged company, which will close on January 1.

The past few months have been spent receiving approval in various countries, including most recently the United States, where Agrium proposed selling a pair of facilities in Idaho and Ohio.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced Wednesday that the commission accepted the sale of assets, and is subject to public comment until January 29.

Nutrien will take over operation of the five PCS mines, including Lanigan and Allan, as well as one Agrium mine, located at Vanscoy.
