One of the big potential landmarks in the near future for the City of Humboldt is a fieldhouse and theatre connection to the Uniplex.

Through public consultations and open houses, a plan is slowly starting to form.

As he reflects on 2015, City Manager Roy Hardy is pleased with the response.

"I think as the mayor has told me, basically the same type of planning went in to the Uniplex in the first place and this is just a continuation of that," he stated. "It demonstrates how the city and this community gets behind some of these projects."

In addition to planning for new buildings, the overall outlook for the future continues to be worked out with the 'Our Humboldt' strategy.

"We were working on a lot of our planning for growth and in terms of being able to address some of the issues and directions that were put together as a result of the Our Humboldt consultation within the community."

That growth is expected to be a key point for the city as they provide their topics of discussion to parties in the new year ahead of April's provincial election.

"Council and the Mayor are going to be active in promoting the fact that cities are an important element of growth within the province," Hardy explained. "We will be getting that message out to the candidates and politicians running to become a MLA in the area."

With not only a provincial election, but also October's municipal election, 2016 is certain to be another big year for the city.
