Humboldt Chamber of Commerce is bringing their Festival of Lights back to the Campground for the holiday season.

This year's donations will be going to benefit the St. Augustine Playground project.

Crystal Young is the Executive Director for the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce.

She explains how it all works.

"One of the things we have happening here is we have a whole lot of community businesses and non-profit organizations who have selected various booths here and within the park. They have it lit up to begin that Christmas Cheer and so we're looking to have a full house tonight and hoping that everybody, after doing some shopping can come on by and have a look at the lights and celebrate that Christmas cheer with us."

Young describes where the silver collection is going towards this year.

"this year we have 22 organizations that have participated in our event and we're hoping at the end of the day to give our silver collection to St. Augustine School, the playground. We know that they've been working very hard at trying to get the funds together to create a safe space for the kids to play at and we're hoping that this summer, our contribution can go towards some of the work that they're doing."

Young explains the reasoning for choosing the St. Augustine Playground Committee.

"As a member of the community, I feel as though it's important to ensure that kids have a safe space to play and have some fun with their friends and we know that the school is trying to do some good things and we want a partnership with that. The Chamber's all about ensuring the success of organizations here in our community, and this is our way of giving back."

The festival of lights will wrap up on January 6th.
