Safe Communities Humboldt has received extra funds from Farm Credit Canada to assist with Agriculture Safety Day.

$1,000 will help the organization with their safety day hands-on activities, teaching kids how to prevent farm, home and recreational incidents.

Shari Hinz, Executive Director for Safe Communities Humboldt describes the safety day.

"We are focused on safety education and injury prevention in our region, and our Progressive Agriculture Safety Day touches not only on farm related safety but home and 911 safety as well. So it's an opportunity for our elementary students within the region to take part in a day where they receive information on a variety of topics related to farm and home safety."

This is the 5th year in a row Farm Credit Canada has donated money to Safe Communities Humboldt, donating $5,000 over that span.

Hinz talks about the need for Safety days like this in an agriculture hotbed such as the Humboldt area.

"Just because we have such a large concentration of farming activity in our region, not only on the grain side but livestock as well, it's really great to see Farm Credit Canada support our education initiative related to farm safety and home safety in this area for sure."

Kids from grades 1 to 5 from Bruno, Middle Lake, Annaheim and Lake Lenore Schools will take part in the Agriculture Safety Day on October 5th in Lake Lenore.
