As of 2:02pm Saskatchewan time yesterday, the official end of summer is upon us, and we've made the switch to autumn.

While they were way off with the summer forecast, The Old Farmers Almanac has released their predictions for the next two seasons. It says we should see a warm end of the month, then a cool October with some potential snow just before Thanksgiving.

Winter is where it'll get interesting though according to managing editor Jack Burnett.

"For the prairies, we're looking at a milder than normal winter, but still a lot colder than last winter,"  Burnett said.  "As far as precipitation and snow, a little tiny bit less than a normal winter, about maybe 5mm less."

Overall, Burnett expects a rather normal winter on the prairies, saying there will be a good spread of cold snaps in each month rather than one long stretch lasting weeks. We should get some moisture back that was lost to summer heat, but he doesn't expect the warmer conditions we saw last year.
