UPDATE: The extreme cold warning has been issued once again for the Humboldt area.

An extreme cold warning that saw temperatures plunge past -40 has ended for the Humboldt area.

Environment Canada issued the warning on Friday with cold arctic air sweeping the province with a ridge of high pressure coming from the north.

Temperatures are expected to level off Monday overnight, with normal conditions returning for the middle of the week.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.

It is highly recommended that you were appropriate clothing when spending any amount of time outside, and pets should spend minimal time outdoors.
