There is some good news and bad news when it comes to your Thanksgiving weekend weather.

The Humboldt area received anywhere from 20-25 centimeters of snow over the past couple days and we are now out of that system but as Environment Canada Emergency Preparedness Meteorologist John Paul Cragg says, more is coming.

"We are looking at the return of snowfall late Saturday night or early Sunday morning and continuing through the day Sunday. The Humboldt area could see another five cm on Sunday."

Cragg adds the hurricane activity in the United States is playing a factor in our forecast accountability.

"The forecast models have been having a little bit of difficulty with the hurricanes down south, it's really switching up the way the storms are moving. Because of that we're seeing a bit of a shift in what the models are showing in this warm up."

Sunshine and a high of five is forecasted by mid-week. With the the temperature getting a boost from the sun, Cragg feels all the accumulation could melt away.

"This is really, really early in the season for snow to fall and stay for the rest of the year. We should get a melt before we get our final snowfall where it's covering the ground for six months."

There is a risk of freezing rain on Saturday.
