Friday night was a very special night in Wadena.

Theo Fleury was in town giving his speech to school kids in the afternoon, and later on a fundraising dinner and auction for the adults.

Isla Kiland is the Director of Community and Economic Development for the Town of Wadena.

She describes where the funds are going towards.

"Tonight the funds are going towards the McClymont Sports Grounds here in Wadena. They're going to provide upgrades to our Baseball diamonds. New shale, backstops, and hopefully some batting cages."

Kiland explains the events of the evening.

"It first started off with a meet and greet with Theoren, and he was doing a bunch of signing of Jerseys and books. It moved into a nice dinner with Two chicks, and Theoren had a great speech tonight, and now we're doing a live auction with all of the sports memorabilia, as well as a silent auction with some great items donated from local business owners and such."

Kiland spoke about the sellout, and what is says about the town of Wadena as a whole.

"Wadena has a lot of pride and spirit and they do always step up to the plate for fundraising efforts, and the come together. I've been here now about three years, and it amazes me everyday with all the community support, so it didn't surprise me at all that we'd have a sellout."
