The Equip to Care Radiothon's goal to help take care of the equipment needs for the Humbolt District Hospital has raked in a pretty penny thanks to numerous donations from the Humboldt area.

The Radiothon ran from April 8th to the 11th and raised $67,778 for the hospital, which will be put towards a long list of equipment needs this year.

"It's been an awesome week. We talked to a lot of people and heard some great feedback. We heard a lot of stories on how the hospital, especially emergency and acute care, how it impacted their family and the excellent service they were able to receive from here. It was just a fantastic week for us," said Executive Director of the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation, Lorrie Bunko.

The amount raised came through numerous donations of wholehearted groups and individuals, as well as a four-hour spin bike relay, that alone, brought in $22,865.

"We had a fantastic turnout, it was a wonderful time. We had 13 teams participate in the spin relay, and everyone was supporting the cause, collecting pledges."

The Equip to Care Radiothon hit the airwaves for four consecutive days. On day one, they raised $6,725. Day two brought in $14,026. The third day featured the four-hour spin relay and also added $8,715 in donations on top, and on the fourth day, just shy of $10,000 was raised.

"The number one thing we look at is how does it benefit the patient, they're the number one priority."
